Our mission at Modern Day Holistic is to offer thoughtfully designed self-guided journals that encourage reflection, mindfulness, and intentional daily practices during fertility treatment experiences.
Why I created the IVF Mindfulness Journal
Firstly, If you’re walking through IVF, you’re not alone. During my 5 year battle with infertility and IVF treatments, I quickly realized how unfamiliar and overwhelming the process can feel. The constant appointments, waiting periods, and information overload led me to search for a simple, grounding way to document my experience and stay intentional day to day.
That’s why I created the IVF Mindfulness Journal — a self-guided journaling space designed to encourage reflection, organization, and mindful moments throughout treatment cycles. This journal was created to offer structure during an otherwise unpredictable season, without pressure, expectations, or outcomes attached.
Through guided prompts and thoughtfully designed pages, the journal invites you to slow down, write things out, and create a personal routine that feels supportive to you.
"I got it Monday! We haven't started our journey yet, but I've been reading through it and I've started the daily journal already. It's a great book and small enough to fit in my purse! Thank your for the complimentary lavender and stickers 💜"

"I'm literally dealing with 2 miscarriages after IVF.. It's so helpful to see other women going through the same struggles. Seeing women posting their journey makes it feel so much less isolating! I love that Alexandra created a mindfulness journal. That's so cool. She's doing important work."

What is an IVF Journal?
The IVF Mindfulness Journal is a thoughtfully designed, self-guided journal created to help individuals organize their thoughts, plan appointments, and reflect throughout fertility treatment cycles.
It offers a structured journaling experience with guided prompts and open-ended pages, allowing users to document their journey in a way that feels intentional and personal.
What book should I read during IVF?
Many people find it helpful to explore books that offer education, organization, and personal reflection during fertility treatment cycles. Below are a few commonly referenced resources:
- It Starts with the Egg by Rebecca Fett: This book provides an educational overview of IVF and discusses lifestyle considerations often explored by individuals researching fertility-related topics.
- IVF Mindfulness Journal by Alexandra Glisson: A self-guided journaling and reflection book designed to help individuals document their experience, organize thoughts, and establish a consistent journaling routine throughout IVF cycles.
- The IVF Diet by Zita West: This book explores nutrition and lifestyle topics commonly discussed in relation to fertility and IVF, presented for general informational purposes.
These resources are intended for educational and personal use only and do not replace guidance from licensed medical or healthcare professionals.
What are the general stages of IVF?
IVF is commonly described as a multi-step process that unfolds over several phases. While every experience is different and guided by a medical provider, the journey is often discussed in the following general stages:
- Cycle Preparation: A planning phase where individuals begin appointments, scheduling, and personal organization.
- Egg Collection Phase: A stage focused on clinical procedures coordinated by a fertility clinic.
- Laboratory Phase: A period where fertilization and embryo development take place in a laboratory setting.
- Transfer Phase: A step involving the placement of an embryo, as determined by a medical provider.
- Waiting Period: Often referred to as the “two-week wait,” this phase involves observation and personal reflection before next steps.
This overview is shared for general informational purposes only and does not describe medical instructions or treatment guidance.
What do people commonly find challenging about IVF?
IVF is often described as a complex process with multiple phases, timelines, and periods of waiting. For many, the most challenging part is managing the uncertainty while staying organized and informed throughout each stage.
Experiences vary widely, and what feels most challenging for one person may differ for another.
What is a thoughtful gift for a friend going through IVF?
A thoughtful gift for someone going through IVF is one that feels personal, considerate, and respectful of their experience.
The IVF Mindfulness Journal is often chosen as a gift because it offers:
- A structured space for journaling and personal reflection
- Pages designed for documenting thoughts, appointments, and milestones
- A private, self-guided way to write things down at one’s own pace
- A beautifully designed keepsake that can be revisited over time
Rather than offering advice or solutions, the journal provides a calm, intentional space for documentation and reflection during a meaningful season.
Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
